Acupuncture for Deep Rest - May 23rd

Workshop: Rest & Reset: Community Acupuncture for Deep Rest

Newkirk Avenue

Service Description

Join Katy Hogan and Ann-Aliki Antoniou, licensed acupuncturists from Awakened Alignment Acupuncture, for a deeply relaxing afternoon of full-body community acupuncture. We’ll begin with a brief introduction to acupuncture and the specific points selected to support the nervous system in settling and resetting. You’ll then lie comfortably on yoga mats, with bolsters and props as needed, and receive a gentle acupuncture treatment using approximately 6–8 points which are pre-selected to help the body down-regulate into a parasympathetic state—supporting deep rest, relaxation, and restoration. Receiving acupuncture in a group setting can be particularly powerful. When we rest quietly together in a collective field, our nervous systems begin to subtly attune to one another—a process known as co-regulation or entrainment. The presence of others settling into stillness and ease helps to signal safety, allowing each nervous system to downshift more quickly and more deeply than it might on its own. Needles will be retained for about 25-30 minutes. Afterward, we’ll gently close the session, remove the needles, and leave space for optional questions and brief sharing. You’ll leave feeling grounded, rested, and more at ease in your body. If you've never had acupuncture before, this is a wonderful way to experience acupuncture for the first time in a warm, supportive, and low-pressure setting! Preparation Please wear LOOSE comfortable clothing that allows easy access to forearms up to the elbows and lower legs up to the knees. Yoga pants are not ideal. Have a light meal or a snack within an hour or two before acupuncture. It is best not to receive acupuncture either starving or stuffed. If possible, plan to give yourself some spacious time after the event before rushing off to your next obligation. Don't plan a heavy workout after acupuncture. Participants will be required to sign a consent form / waiver at the time of the event.
